History of the RagaMuffin
The RagaMuffin cat breed has a fascinating history that dates back to the early 1990s. The breed originated in the United States from a group of Ragdoll breeders who wanted to develop a cat with a wider range of colors and patterns and a more diverse genetic background than the traditional Ragdoll. These breeders began introducing other breeds into their Ragdoll lines, such as Persians and Himalayans, to achieve their goal.
The result was a cat that retained the Ragdoll's sweet, docile nature and large size yet displayed a variety of colors and patterns. These new cats were given the name RagaMuffin, a playful nod to their Ragdoll origins and their 'muffin-like' velvety soft, plush coats.
The RagaMuffin was officially recognized as a separate breed by the American Cat Fanciers Association in 2003. Today, the RagaMuffin is cherished for its friendly and affectionate nature, its striking appearance, and its unique history.
